Opera Mobile 9.5 Beta does a remarkable job of rendering Web pages true to life and allows you to navigate them with relative ease. Opera Mobile 9.5 Beta is light years ahead of Mobile Internet Explorer. The only other Windows Mobile Browser that can compete with Opera Mobile 9.5 Beta right now is Skyfire which can be slow due to its off-client Web page rendering model.

A couple of Opera Mobile 9.5 Beta’s most notable features are:

Slide 2 Unlock 2 (S2U2) is a very neat little application that adds iPhone-esque unlocking to your Samsung Epix. S2U2 also includes Caller ID (check if it works on Epix) and Volume Control.

To change the defauly wallpaper:

1. Create a 320×320 jpeg file with the new wallpaper image and name it “wallpaper.jpg”.
2. Copy it to the gfx folder (default is \Program Files\s2u2\gfx\)
3. Restart iLock2 (Run Start > Programs > S2U2 > iLock2 twice, the first time will stop it, the second time will re-launch it).

I’m going to do something out of character and say some nicities about a Microsoft product that isn’t an OS: Windows Media Player 10 Mobile isn’t half bad. The version 10, which is installed by default on the Samsung Epix, has a fairly clean, simple interface and plays my mp3s pretty well (very rate that they skip/stutter). As a music player it performs well enough.

And that’s where the nicities end. As you’d expect, Microsoft has crippled Windows Media Player 10 so it only supports a handful of  Video and Audio file formats. If your video files aren’t WMV you probably have better luck playing the lottery than getting them to play properly in Windows Media Player 10.

Which leads me to TCPMP, the best media player fo the Samsung Epix out there. It supports a ton of video and audio formats, is highly customizable/tweakable and best of all its FREE! The only downside would be its rather spartan look (which some people may actually prefer I suppose).
